A Free Ride

March 2, 2008

Give credit where credit is due I always say. This is one of the driving principles in my life. I respect people and their work. Sometimes it’s little but they still contributed a part. But sometimes this trait tends to get abused by those we call “Free loaders.” Yes, free loaders irk me but yelling and cursing isn’t going to help the situation. I have adopted a “proportional credit” method to deal with them instead. More work equals more credit, no work means no credit.

I’ll admit, my work isn’t consistent. When it’s bad it’s really a pile of crap, when it’s good it’s good as gold. Crap or not, I value effort and do my fair share of work and more. This is why it irritates me to no end when someone associates me with the term Free loader.

The term free loader is basically acknowledgement for doing no work and taking part in the credit. If a person actually did his share to call him a free loader would effectively disregard all the effort that person put in. Personally I would consider it an insult to be called a free loader.

There was one incident in 3rd year high school. Back then I fell seriously ill during the middle of a project. The project when ahead without me but they still included my name in the group. We all got a good grade with me doing little to no work. I didn’t like that situation at all and neither did my group mates. To end the issue I went to my teacher and asked . a special project. I could have let the issue die down (it was near the end of the school year) and kept the grade without the work but like I said I despise being associated with the word free loader.

In college things are harder and time IS gold. Unfortunately I seem to lack the tools to mine enough of this precious mineral. I find myself doing too many things and sometimes it causes shabby work and sometimes shabby work isn’t much better than no work. This is one reason why I feel one of these days someone is eventually going to call me a free loader.

If that happens all I can do is step up and prove my worth. IF it happens, I am doing my best here and I don’t want my effort to go to waste.

In the meantime, FFree loading will continue to exist and I will continue with my efforts to disassociate myself from the word.

  1. OUCH..lit parter..ouch! hahaha..

  2. Summary:

Free loading is something that disgusts Vince. He believes that credit should be given where credit is due, and that is to the group member who has done more of the work. Vince values the fact that proper acknowledgment should be given to those who deserve it. That’s why being called a free loader is just unacceptable to him.

He has, at one point of his life, been guilty of free loading though. During one high school project, he did very little to help the group accomplish something, yet he still got the same grade as everyone else. Not wanting to be called a free loader, he told his teacher to give him a special project to make up for letting his groupmates do all the work. He protected his honor and at the same time avoided being tagged to the term “free loader”.

The only thing Vince knows is that he has to step up and show everyone that he can accomplish tasks assigned to him in a group. He will do his fair share of the work and will do his best to earn the acknowledgement of finishing the groupwork.

    Comment:
The entry is really short and simple to read but then the important points were stated well. This can be improved though by stating more instances when you can prevent the term “free loader” from being associated with you. Most of the paragraphs are too short and the explanations don’t show the readers much about yourself. Aside from that, everything is logically arranged and is actually something all students can relate to.

  3. Summary:
Vince hates the word freeloader. For him it is “acknowledgment for doing no work and taking part in the credit”. In high school, he made a special project to avoid being called a freeloader. He always want to do his work get his rightful credit or acknowledgment.

    Assessment:
The blog lacks creativity because it was simple.
The explanations insufficient to placate the readers need for information and clarification.
    It was logically arranged.
